Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 into an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of the singer Dionne Warwick. The singer began her singing career in the choir of her church The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the early years of her childhood and at 15 was singing backing vocals professionally alongside the mother of her on Chaka Khan's hit song from 1978 Im Every Woman. Then, she performed backing vocals to Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and even her mother. The quality of her work as the lead vocalist in New York funk group Material caught the eye of major record companies including Arista, with which she signed in 1982 and was with them for the rest of her career. The first Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It became one of the best-selling albums of an artist. Several hit singles including the hit songs Saving All My Love For You How Can I Tell You If You Give Good Love as well as The greatest Love of All were released from the album, setting the stage for her to beat the Beatles with seven consecutive US numbers one. It sold three million copies during its initial year, and 25 million globally. The album won her first six Grammys. Whitney was her first album. Dana Bash is also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz and she has a job at CNN as anchorwoman, reporter and political correspondent.
